چکیده

Abstract Isothiocyanates are biotoxic degradation products formed as a result of enzymatic hydrolysis glucosinolates present in Brassica species. The application biofumigant crops, an alternative crop protection method for soilborne pathogens and pests is increasingly gaining interest. However, little known the potential biofumigation to reduce inoculum Fusarium species affecting cereals. aim this study was evaluate antifungal activity five isothiocyanates, namely allyl, benzyl, ethyl, 2‐phenylethyl methyl against germination growth graminearum under vitro conditions. Aromatic isothiocyanates were more inhibitory than aliphatic mycelial growth, whereas reverse observed conidial germination. Among tested allyl efficient overall, showing lower ED 50 values (35–150 mg/L) radial growth. findings suggest that plants containing could have suppressive effect, reducing F. soil prior cereal production.

Isothiocyanates: An Overview of Their Antimicrobial Activity against Human Infections.

The use of plant-derived products as antimicrobial agents has been investigated in depth. Isothiocyanates (ITCs) are bioactive products resulting from enzymatic hydrolysis of glucosinolates (GLs), the most abundant secondary metabolites in the botanical order Brassicales. Although the antimicrobial activity of ITCs against foodborne and plant pathogens has been well documented, little is known ...

In vitro and in vivo evaluations of Pelargonium roseum essential oil activity against Trichomonas gallinae

Objective: Pelargonium roseum Willd.(Geraniaceae) is widely grown as an ornamental plant due to its strong pleasant rose-like odor. The present study evaluates the antitrichomonal effect of P. roseum essential oil (EO) against Trichomonas gallinae both in vitro and in vivo and compares it to that of metronidazole (MTZ) as a standard antitrichomonal drug. Materials and Methods: In vitro assays w...

In-vitro Antimycoplasmal Activity of Triclosan in Combination with Fluoroquinolones against Five mycoplasma Species

Mycoplasmosis caused by mycoplasma has immensely reduced the performance of commercial animal husbandry, along with prevalence and increase of drug resistance in mycoplasma, thus new agents and therapies are urgently needed. Triclosan is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent with a favorable safety profile. In the present study, we tested the antimycoplasmal activity of triclosan alone, as well ...
